Yes, questions? Anyone?

Nate?

Yes! You! The one in the back with the face.

Who are you?

My name's Nate Wootters and I'm a 22-year-old cartoonist from Massachusetts. I was enrolled in Hampshire College for two years before I went crazy and dropped out and now I'm killing time until starting school again at the Center for Cartoon Studies.

"Wootters"?

Yes, Wootters. With two T's (I know, it's obnoxious) and yes, it's pronounced like 'Hooters'. I found out a couple years back that it might actually be pronounced 'v-OH-terrz' which I will keep in mind when I finally come to terms with being a douche.

What's FailedComics.com?

It began with lofty aspirations of getting discovered as a cartoonist, becoming famous and selling ad-space. Now it's just where I put the smaller things that I do in the downtime of working on this longer-term project, "Evening Wear". I'm giving no details on that, as I have a tendency to jinx these things.

What's FAIL!?

It's a webcomic I started in highschool because my comic submissions got rejected from the school paper. It's mainly about me and my (wacky!) friends. Unfortunately, I hate a good number of those comics now - I think a lot of them are formulaic, I don't like how I wrote dialogue and around 10 or so have ripped-off jokes that to me, stick out like sore thumb-shaped dick tumors.

So this means I tend to get a little on edge when talking to fans of FAIL!, which unfortunately is the vast majority of people who know I exist, which should give you an idea of how much I love making life hard for myself.

So what's Nate VS?

Well, FAIL! was all about pleasing people, being popular and selling T-shirts, so Nate VS was a rejection of that. I started it my first year of college, and the comics were more about me having fun.

How come it keeps changing styles?

Again, it's about me having fun and playing around, and I don't think I have a definite style. And I try to match Nate to how I look in real life, and I change looks more frequently than I post comics.

How can I reach you?

My e-mail is whiteouteyes@gmail.com.

If you have a Woot-signal, you can use that too.
